Secretary’s Foreword 2011

The Pétanque Season is here yet again.....  Although we have lost the Blue Lion ‘D’ we have two new teams to welcome into the League, they are the Lonsdale 6 and the Forge. As you see, we still have 7 Divisions, there are byes in four of those divisions, however the Pot Luck Trophy will again be played for in divisions E & F.

If any of the teams in divisions C & D wish to arrange a friendly game with other teams sharing a bye, please feel welcome to do so.

Since the AGM Ted Walledge has resigned as treasurer of the League and the Committee have co-opted Jez Downie to this position until next years AGM.

Unfortunately, for the people that don’t know President Dave Cushman passed away this year, this position has yet to be filled.

We are known as “The Friendly League” and we play for the enjoyment of the game and socialising with other players. However we do play to a set of Rules and almost all of the queries can be answered if you go onto the Website where you will find the Rules this year.

Apart from the written rules we have a flexibility feature, whereby the two captains at any particular match may agree variations of the rules for the duration of the match. This is a matter between captains and providing that mutual agreement has been reaches then the committee need not be informed of the circumstances or rule variations.

Good Luck to All.....Enjoy your Season..... Lesley
